Super Simple Crochet Washcloth / Dishcloth Pattern

Here’s a crochet pattern I came up with for a washcloth or dishcloth that works up quick and, as the title suggests, is super simple to make.

Now, you all are probably saying: “Michelle, enough with the crochet patterns already! Especially the super simple ones! If you’re going to keep throwing out so many crochet patterns, at least do something different and a little more complex!” And I hear you. The only reason I did this one is I needed a birthday present for a family member on short notice, and since I already had the Super Simple Soap Saver worked up, I thought combining them with a bar of soap would make a nice gift.

Don’t get me wrong: I like crochet patterns with a bunch of different cool stitches as much as the next person. But it’s nice to have some patterns that are simple and quick to work up when you just want to zone out and crochet on autopilot for the therapeutic effect, or when you need to put together a quick gift like I did. I mean, really, who would not be happy to get something like this for a present?

Super Simple Crochet Washcloth / Dishcloth Pattern

Finished Size: Approximately 11″ square when flat. It will stretch a bit when being used.

Materials: Medium weight cotton yarn, approximately 150 yards (Brand and color I used here is Lily Sugar ‘n Cream Cotton Yarn in Cool Breeze Ombre)
Crochet Hook K (6.50 mm)
Scissors
Yarn Needle

Gauge: 6 stitches = 2 inches. Gauge is not important for this pattern; I am providing this information for those who want to check their gauge.

Instructions:

Chain 30; turn.

Row 1: ch 1; sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across; turn (30 s).

Row 2 – 36: ch 1; sc in each sc across; turn (30 s).

Finish Edges: ch 1; sc in each sc across. * ch 1; turn corner; sc in each sc across.* Work instructions between * 3 times. Join with sl st. Weave in ends.

And there you have it- a quick duo for working up a great handmade gift or when you just need a simple pattern for stress relief.
