Hey Everyone! Welcome to my Christmas home tour 2014! I’m so excited to be part of the Holiday Home Tour this year hosted by Kendra at Joy In Our Home!
Now let’s get started! π
Entryway Bench
We’re a bit unusual in that instead of our entryway bench being located right by an entryway door, it is pretty much right smack in the middle of our downstairs level across from the family room. I find this works best for us as well as guests providing easy access to purses, backpacks and the like. But I do tend to crowd out some of the useable space when I decorate it for the holidays! I love to decorate the top of the bench! And it’s so easy to switch out the decorations for the seasons. I especially love the weather vane! The milk jug almost always has something sticking out of the top of it, depending on the season! This time it’s fallen redwood branches decked out in stringed pearls and ornaments! I rounded everything out by sticking some redwood greenery around burlap and lace tied pillows and a redwood sway hung inside a old wine barrel ring!
Family Room
Our family room is located directly across from the entryway bench. I just refinished the entertainment center and I’m really happy with how it turned out! I will be posting about how I did it in the near future, so stay tuned! π When I got the entertainment center finished, I was so excited to finally have a place to display some of my late grandfather’s antiques and some of my flea market finds! π We bought this door for our house when we were building it, but it turned out to be the wrong size and we never got around to returning it. Might as well put it to some use! π
Living Room
Last but not least, our living room! We just recently repainted our interior walls, so we are still working on getting window treatments and wall dΓ©cor back up. At least there’s nothing to distract from the Christmas decorations! π

It all looks SO gorgeous!!! I love all of the neutral touches and I am totally crushing on those rusty lanterns!!!

Thank you Kristi! I’m really into the neutral look this year, but had a hard time trying to pull it off for Christmas since it’s traditionally pretty bold colors, but it turned out pretty good thank goodness! π

Your home looks amazing. Your holiday decorations are perfection. Now I know that I’m supposed to be looking at your holiday stuff but your collection of vintage lanterns in the family room has caught my eye and my envy!! love them.
Michelle @ The Painted Hinge says
Thank you Robin! π And no worries about the lanterns- I do the same thing when I look at other people’s holiday home tours (“Great job decorating for the holidays, but I just love your backsplash in the kitchen!”) π
Irena Shevchenko says
The showcase house! It looks like the nobody lives here, Michelle: it is so elegant, shining neat and clean. There is no speck of dust on all these decorations that is hard to make and even harder to maintain, sorry to say: how you do that? And, of course, the very creative and original decorations. The floor and new paint shine! Great job!
Michelle @ The Painted Hinge says
Thank you Irena! And trust me, it’s not nearly as clean as it looks- thankfully the camera is very forgiving when it comes to that! π But, the new paint does help makes things look cleaner π
