Welcome to The Farmhouse Friday Link Party!
Happy New Year! I hope you had a great holiday season!
The hubs and I were sick over the holidays with that stupid respiratory virus that’s going around. We stayed home for Christmas and New Years as we didn’t want to get anyone else sick. This virus is a doozy as it hangs on for a few weeks. My hubs is finally getting over it, but I’m still in the middle of it. I’m happy I decided to take the holiday week off beforehand because apparently, I needed it for sick time.
We also had to stay goodbye to our oldest cat, Klepta. A few weeks ago we found out she had cancer in her liver and intestines. We made her last weeks on earth as comfortable as possible before we took her to the vet last Saturday to cross the rainbow bridge. She was an awesome cat (as all cats are) and she will be missed very much.
One of our other cats will be joining her sister over the rainbow bridge soon as she has been fighting an injection site carcinoma over the last year caused from one of her vaccine shots. It only happens to every one in 15,000 cats (lucky us). But we are lucky to have awesome veterinarians that through surgery and herbal supplements were able to give her great quality of life for over another year after diagnosis
I’m sorry to start off the first party of the year on such a bummer note, but I want to be authentic here as I possibly can. Life has its ups and downs, and I don’t want to come across as everything always being all golly-gee good as it’s just not how real life works. And unfortunately, the bad things in life don’t take the holidays off. But when the bad stuff happens, it reminds me to be especially thankful for all the blessings I have in my life. It’s been a rough couple of weeks, but things could be a hell of a lot worse.

Very sorry to hear that Klepta has passed, cancer is so fast for animals. Our grand-dog Peaches passed in October from cancer and I was just grateful that she was not in pain, just plain worn out bless her.
Hope you are recovering from being sick the past few weeks. Thank you for hosting today, take care of you.
Hugs.

You’ve had much to deal with recently. Hoping that all the germs are on their way out or completely gone by now. My deepest sympathy to you on the loss of Klepta, we had to let go of our two 17 yr old litter brothers 4 mos to the day apart. It’s heartbreaking because they truly are part of your family. Thank you for your wonderful blog, the info you share is great! Feel better soon and have a fantastic 2019!
Michelle says
Thank you so much Jan! Yes this holiday season has been a rough one for sure. Here’s to a better year in 2019!

Happy New Year Michelle!
Praying that you feel better soon. I’m sorry to hear about you cats. It is hard to let the ones we love go, but they are always in our hearts.
My oldest cat is a hair away from 20-years, he’s skin and bone and nearly blind, but still enjoys warming by the fireplace. I’m thankful for each day that I have him here on earth.
Thank you so much for sharing with us. I wish you and your family peace & love in 2019.
~Mary

So sorry to hear of the loss of your cats; losing one would be hard enough. Losing two is just heartbreaking. Our brother & sister pair are 14, and starting to show their years. I so admire your honesty in your message that life is just sometimes hard, not always rainbows and unicorns. It’s real, genuine, and refreshingly open. Plus I just very much enjoy your blog. (I’m not participating in this link party, but will be back next week.)
Michelle says
Thank you so much Kristine! I’m happy you can appreciate my transparency about my life over the past couple of weeks. Sometimes I worry I’m going to turn off my readers by sharing the not-so-happy parts of my life, but I can never bring myself to gloss things over so I’d rather be authentic and risk losing readers than be phony. Thanks again and I look forward to seeing what you share next week!
