A couple of weeks ago I went to the White Elephant Sale in Oakland, CA. My good friends Millie and Evelyn were going and invited me to go along.
What’s the White Elephant Sale, you may ask? I didn’t have a clue either. It’s a rummage sale the Oakland Museum Women’s Board puts on solely dependent on donated items that benefits the Oakland Museum. It is held in a 96,000 square feet warehouse and includes 17 different selling departments. And they have pretty much everything you can imagine.
It’s actually quite overwhelming to have so much cool stuff in one place. Because of that, start in the departments that have your favorite things, and then work out as time (and money!) allows. 🙂
The final sale for the year is going on this weekend, March 2-3 from 10am to 4pm, then from what I understand they close it down again until next year. If you’re into antiques, vintage items, or looking for things to repurpose, you’ll definitely want to check it out. Parking is limited so you want to get there early.
Have fun and post about any goodies you find!

Is that an old produce scale?
Michelle says
I think it is some kind of industrial food scale, so it may very well be a produce scale 🙂
