Okay, I know I’m making a huge claim here. And there’s like 50,000 crochet heart patterns out there, and of course I can’t look at every one, so who’s to say this one is really the easiest?
I’ll tell you why. 
1. This one is really frigging easy. The first round is all double crochet and a slip stitch. It gets its heart shape all in the second round.
2. There’s only two rounds.
3. There are instructions with pictures below the pattern. Not only is it easy, you get to see how easy it is.
And by the way, this pattern is a great stashbuster!
The Easiest Crochet Heart Pattern Ever!
Materials:
Size I (5.50mm) crochet hook
Scissors
Tapestry or yarn needle
Red Heart Super Saver Yarn or any 10-ply worsted weight yarn
Abbreviations:
sl st = slip stitch
ch = chain
sc = single crochet
hdc = half double crochet
dc = double crochet
trc = treble crochet
st(s) = stitch(es)
Directions:
ch 5; join with sl st to form a loop.
Round 1:
ch 3.
10 dc and 1 sl st in first ch st.
Round 2:
ch 3; 3 trc in same st.
3 trc in next st.
1 dc, 1 hdc in next st.
1 sc in next 2 sts.
1 sc, 1 dc, 1 sc in next st.
1 sc in next 2 sts.
1 hdc, 1 dc in next st.
3 trc in next st.
3 trc, 1 dc in next st.
sl st in first st.
Cut yarn, tie off, and weave in ends.
See how easy? No? Then take a looksee below. The pictures show the pattern being worked from left to right because I am left handed. This pattern is symmetrical, so it can be worked either left to right or right to left and achieve the same results.Chain 3.
Chain up from slip stitch to start round 2.
Work the first 3 triple crochet in the same stitch as the slip stitch.
Halfway point on the second round; just finished the single crochet 1, double crochet 1, single crochet 1 in the same stitch (forms the point at the bottom of the heart).
Finishing the second round; slip stitch in the first stitch (the stitch that you chained up from to begin the second round.
All finished! See, told you they were easy!
So, what can you do with these once you make a bunch of them?
They can be used for garlands and wreaths, or stitched together for scarves or an afghan. Or, you can just toss them about a table, shelf or counter. They’re so darned cute they stand on their own.
Oh, and fair warning: like granny squares, these can be really addicting. You’ll wake up to dozens of them lying about the house without any memory of making them. Which really isn’t a bad thing, unless you have a crochet heart phobia.

Lovelry pattern! Where do you put the 9 dc in rd 1 though? i started with a magic ring instead, had 10 stiches including the ch3 in the end. is that correct too?

Hi am crocheting a heart garland for my friends wedding decorations, ( outdoor bush wedding ) I would like to use ur easy heart pattern but would like to make the heart twice the size. Sorry for the delay in replying… I’ve been dealing with some illness in my family.
In order to make this heart larger, I would make a third round and double the amount of stiches that are in the second round. So, do 2 sc for every l sc in the second round, 2 dc for every 1 dc in the second round, and so on. You will probably have to play with this a bit, but this will get you started.

I must not understand this pattern because I tried several times and the math doesn’t make sense to me. I can get it to work if I do a magic circle, chain three, and then ten double crochets in the circle to start. I’m just really curious as to what I am doing wrong! I have made ten of these though, and they are awesome, so thank you for the pattern!

The part of the pattern before round 1 (ch 5; join with sl st to form a loop) is essentially the same thing as doing a magic circle, so essentially you just exchanged that part for the magic circle. If it works that way for you, then great!

I understand where Sam is coming from about the math, With your pattern you call for 3chain (counting it as a dc) and 9 dc adding up to 10 dc. But in round 2 you have instructions that use 11 dc, hence why Sam and I both felt the need to make 3 chains plus 10 dc at the beginning. Unless I don’t understand where you put the extra stitches. But thanks for the pattern anyways!
I apologize- I wasn’t following Sam’s explanation of the problem. Yes, you are both correct- the first round should have 11 stitches. I’ve corrected the pattern. Thank you both for catching my error, and sorry for all the confusion!

Wonderful! Thank you for the easy instructions. Once I remembered how to do the different stitches it was very easy to follow. Only took me 3 trys 😉 I plan on using them for my classes. Have you heard of the book, The Kissing Hand? The parents can give the kids a heart to take to class and they will be reused every day they come in and need one. I better go, have a lot more to make!
