Hey friends! Summer is almost upon us? Can you believe Mother’s Day is a week from Sunday? This year is just flying by! 🙂 As summer quickly approaches, it’s time to think about entertaining for the warm weather holidays like Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, Father’s Day, 4th of July, and maybe even a graduation party if you have a graduate in the family this year. Your guests will see a warm welcome as soon as they step on your front porch with these tips on how to create a colorful and welcoming farmhouse style front porch with Monrovia flowers!
I started my front porch decorating with a trip to the garden center at my local Lowe’s to pick up some beautiful and colorful Monrovia flowers. Here are the names of the flowers pictured above, starting at the top left:
- Blue Eyed Beauty African Daisy
- Cascadias Bicolor Cabernet Petunia
- Dahinova Hypnotica Dahlia
- Betty Bacopa
- SuperCal Cherry Petchoa
- Lanai Twister Purple Improved Verbena
- Dahinova Dahlia
- Twisted Pink Pepper Verbena
- SuperCal Cherry Petchoa
Here’s the space on my front porch on the left side of my front door. This is the first area my guests will see when they step up onto my front porch.
I added a few farmhouse style vintage pieces to the corner… a grape box, the welcome sign I painted a few months back, a step-ladder, and a galvanized mop bucket. They spruce up the corner a bit, but it still need some more color.
I have quite the collection of terra-cotta pots, so I decided to put them into good use! 🙂
Once I added the Monrovia flowers, the space really popped! 🙂 I can’t wait to have guests over!
I hope you enjoyed my tips on how to create a colorful and welcoming farmhouse style front porch!

Love your welcome sign!!! Do you have instructions how to make one??
Michelle says
Thank you Dorothy! I don’t have instructions for making this exact sign, but I do have instructions for a similar one which uses the same technique for painting the letters: https://www.thepaintedhinge.com/2017/03/04/diy-painted-wood-signs-without-using-stencils/
