It is with a heavy heart that I must announce the passing of my beloved mother-in-law Jean on Monday due to complications from multiple myeloma, which is a form of blood cancer. It was very sudden as she was just diagnosed a little over a week before she passed. She was a wonderful woman who will be forever loved and missed by her family and friends.
I planned to start Christmas decorating this week, but after my mother-in-law’s passing it just didn’t seem right to start decorating yet. I plan on holding off decorating until next week and hope to get some of the results up on the blog.
I also want to announce that I am returning Farmhouse Friday to it’s original format, which means no more recipes. I didn’t know if recipes would make a good addition to Farmhouse Friday, and the only way to find out was to give it the old college try. But according to the feedback I got and the unfollows on social media, I now know that most of you like Farmhouse Friday as it was. The consensus of the feedback I received was that people like narrow focus of Farmhouse Friday because that’s what makes the party unique. Thank you all that gave me feedback and to the people that unfollowed me, as all of it helped me make the party into what you all most want to see here.

I am so sorry about the passing of your mother-in-law. It must have been such a shock given the short time between diagnosis and her death.
I applaud the removal of recipes from your party. I know so many who are genuine artists at cooking and love doing it. I admire them! But I am not one of them.

It is saddening to lose our family members and close friends. But Michelle, in Heaven there is no suffering or discontent at all. And some day you’ll be with Jean again.
Michelle says
Thank you so much for your kind words Bob <3

Thank you so much Michelle <3 Yes it was quite a shock that she passed so suddenly. The silver lining here is that at least she did not have to suffer long.
I'm happy you agree with removing recipes from the party. Since I started Farmhouse Friday I always wondered if not having recipes was a good idea, and now I know that it is 🙂 Thanks for your feedback and I hope you have a wonderful week!

Well, that is super interesting about the recipes not going over well. I hope those followers will come back for the value that you offer from your blog. Thank you so much for the feature this week! I’m blessed!
Michelle says
It is very interesting about the recipes, isn’t it? I used to share my own recipes here on the blog, but it seems that most of my readers like the narrow focus of farmhouse DIY projects and decor inspiration. I gain and lose followers all the time, but when I lose more than I gain I know I’ve gone off the trail of what people want to see here 🙂 You’re very welcome for the feature and I hope you have a great week!

I am so, so sorry, Michelle. That has got to be a shock for you. Take your time to grieve. Christmas may have to be much more simple this year. Thanks also for no recipes; I didn’t really like them here, either, but want you to do what you need to!
Michelle says
Thank you so much Lora <3 And I'm happy you agree with no recipes here at the party. Always nice to know I'm going in the right direction with things here 🙂 I hope you have a wonderful week!

This is my first ever blog post from you, having found you on a crochet search. I am so sorry for your family’s loss. I too lost my mother-in-law, in September, from lung cancer. Though she had been in hospital for 2 months prior, it was still a shock when the end came. I hope that you and your family find time to heal.

Thank you so much Kristy <3 I'm sorry to hear that you lost your MIL recently too.
