Hey friends! Today I am so excited to join the Lifestyle Of Love blog hop hosted by Cindy at County Road 407! A Lifestyle of Love is a group of super talented ladies that get together every other month to bring you beautiful vintage and farmhouse decorating ideas using antique and repurposed goodies!
If you’re coming over from Postcards From The Ridge, welcome! Isn’t Angie’s style gorgeous?
This month our theme is toolboxes! I haven’t used toolboxes in my decor up until now but always wanted to try my hand at it. When I found out that toolboxes would be our theme this time I was so excited, but there was one slight problem – I didn’t have a toolbox!
My initial plan was to build a toolbox like the one above. Unfortunately time got away from me over the holidays and I didn’t have time to build one. Luckily I was able to find the one above on Amazon! It’s made from reclaimed wood and the price was right, so it was the perfect alternative to building my own. I always like to DIY what I can when I can, but when it’s not possible it’s okay to buy it.
I decided to style my toolbox for Valentine’s Day since it’s just around the corner. I styled it two different ways.
First I used a heart I made out of ticking stripe fabric, a lace doily, dried flowers in vintage Listerine bottles (you want fresh breath on Valentine’s Day right?) and used some lace ribbon, jute twine and a strip of leftover ticking stripe fabric to tie a bow on the handle. I set it on a ticking stripe towel on my dining room table to use as a centerpiece.
When I moved the toolbox on my corner table in my dining room, I switched out the Listerine bottles with balusters and the ticking stripe towel for another doily.
Which way do you like best? I really like both but I like this way a smidge better.
That’s it for me! Next up is Common Ground! You will adore Debra’s signature vintage style!
Here is the entire lineup for this month’s Lifestyle Of Love hop for a ton more toolbox inspiration!
Thanks so much for hopping with us! Until next time!

What an absolutely adorable arrangement Michelle! I love how the lacy doily looks against the weathered wood. The ticking heart is making my heart sing!
Michelle says
Thank you so much Laura! I really love my ticking heart and I need to make more!
CoCo says
Such a beautiful way to decorate for Valentine’s Day, Michelle! I love your ticking pillow so much and I can’t believe you found this on Amazon. I swear you find the coolest stuff on there. I’m still not over your amber glass jars 🙂 Hugs, CoCo

Thank you so much CoCo! I am a certified Amazon junkie and whenever I need something I always check there first.

That toolbox really looks like an old one. I like that it has a high handle so that you have plenty of room to decorate it. Both of the ways that you styled it for Valentine’s Day are so pretty and I can’t pick a favorite. I always love seeing how you decorate for each season.
Michelle says
Thank you so much Paula! I love the high handle too. I was really impressed with the toolbox and how much it looks like the real vintage deal!

I love that you were able to find that on Amazon. perfectly vintage!! I have never seen vintage Listerine bottles but they are perfect for using as bud vases. (I guess we all have bad breath around here!) And I’m also crazy about your little ticking heart. I need one!! Sweet fun ideas!
Michelle says
Thank you so much Debra! I actually have quite a few vintage Listerine bottles that I’ve found at flea markets (we must have all had bad breath around here too!). I love my ticking heart too and I need to make more!

I never and I mean never think of Amazon for buying such cute stuff. Who knew?! Your caddy turned out adorably and it looks like you’ve had it for decades! I actually love both ideas. Through this hop, I’ve realized, I NEED more caddy’s! Thank you so much for joining in. Such a great group of ladies.
Michelle says
Thank you so much Cindy!!! I love this hop so much and I’m so happy I can participate. Amazon has SO much cute farmhouse stuff, including handmade items from small businesses. It’s always my first stop when I’m looking for something farmhouse and I don’t have time to search for it in thrift stores or flea markets.
Katie Mansfield says
It’s darling. It fits right in with all your vintage decor. Your corner table is adorable.
Michelle says
Thank you so much Katie!
Angie @ Postcards from the Ridge says
I love both versions! That little caddy is adorable. And I love the lace with the hearts on it. The ticking stripe heart looks perfect in there too. Great job!
Michelle says
Thank you so much Angie!

Your “new” toolbox is totally legit, Michelle! I’ve seen those on Amazon; great for styling. Love the ticking heart and yes, think I like the porch posts in there slightly better, but you know I love all that junk;) Oh, friend, I see many toolboxes in your future; it’s just the beginning!
Michelle says
Thank you so much Lora! And I think you’re right about many toolboxes in my future – they’re so much fun!
Kippi Ohern says
I am obsessed with vintage toolboxes. I have some of my Dad’s old toolboxes, and I cherish them. I wrote a post about making some new ones like the vintage ones since you can NEVER have enough, but you purchased yours from Amazon, and it looks perfect!
Hugs,
Kippi
