Hey there friend! I hope you had an awesome week!
My good friend and Farmhouse Friday co-host Cindy has been super busy on her blog this week!
Cindy took part in a Christmas In July blog hop hosted by Rachel at The Ponds Farmhouse. Cindy shared 5 of her all-time Christmas decorating projects including this DIY silver tray wreath! You can check out the rest of Cindy’s clever projects along with the other gorgeous Christmas inspiration from the other talented ladies on the tour here!
Cindy also shared this yummy no-bake strawberry lemonade icebox pie as part of her monthly Pinterest challenge blog hop! You can check out her recipe as well as all the other delicious strawberry recipes in the challenge here!
As for me, it’s been another unproductive week for me as far as the blog and everything else. Last week I took the week off from the blog to catch up on house cleaning because up until then I had been struggling with leg pain from a still-unknown cause. But you know what they say about the best laid plans. Perimenopause decided to rear it’s ugly head once again and I got hit with a case of severe fatigue along with anxiety and depression. I’ve been feeling pretty good (mentally at least) over the last few months so I thought that I might be done with that part of perimenopause, but now it’s back and worse than ever. I’ve been trying to avoid getting on HRT (hormone replacement therapy) because of the associated health risks but it’s getting to the point where I may not have a choice. I am just so, so tired of dealing with it. If you’ve had any experience with HRT, I’d love to hear about your experience with it.

Not that it helps you right now but I promise it gets better! I avoided HRTs like the plague and went the naturopathic route to help stabilize mood swings, anxiety, and depression. Worth having a consult.

Thank you so much Marie 💜 I want to avoid HRTs too and I’ll only get on them as a last resort. I’ve been taking evening primrose oil and started black cohosh capsules yesterday. I need to find a naturopathic doctor in my area. I’m definitely looking forward to getting to the other side of this 😊 Thanks again so much for your caring and support!

I was on HRT due to a hysterectomy in my 30’s. The key is to take as little as possible. life saver for me, but each person is different. You had Covid didn’t you? have you considered you may be having “long haulers”? I don’t want to play doctor, but you need to look at all angles with your health. Your health is more important than blogging. Take care of yourself and thanks for having us over, Michelle.

Thank you so much Debra 💜 Yes, I did have Covid and I have considered this may be part of long haulers. I also got the Covid vaccine a few weeks ago and the booster on Friday which I suspect may be playing into it too. It’s been reported that some women have suspected their menstrual cycles have been affected by the vaccine so if that’s true it could be affecting me while I go through the transition. Unfortunately with Covid-19 still being a relatively new thing there isn’t a lot of research or support for any of it. I’ll just have to find a way to get myself through it. Again, thanks so much for your support 💜 It really means a lot to me!

I’ll be praying you can find relief, find out what’s going on and get the answers quickly. Seems like nothing is quick when you need help asap I know. Make YOU a priority and let the dust bunnies go crazy.

Right? I hate that about our health system, especially when it comes to mental health. I’m trying to put everything else aside and just focus on taking care of myself, but it’s hard. I feel like I have a responsibility to keep things going and feel guilty when I don’t feel up to it. Ugh 🙁 Thanks so much for always being a great and understanding friend Cindy 💜

Thanks for taking the time to host the party amongst your health issues, Michelle. Perimenopause is a beast!! Diet changes can be a huge help during this time, dieticians told my sister to keep sugars at bay during her daughter’s puberty(suddenly struggled with social anxieties) and then same for when our bodies are wanting to change back! Those hormones like to attach themselves to that sugar…I wish had done better with that during my perimenopause. Praying and hoping you find some answers and adjustments. Hang in there!
Michelle says
Thank you so much Julie! 💜 I’m trying to eat as healthy as possible right now but it’s so hard because my mood is so low that I’m craving comfort foods like crazy. Thanks for the sugar tip – I didn’t know that those hormones like to attach themselves to sugar so I will try to cut back on it. I’m hanging in there but right now it feels like I’m just hanging on by my fingernails 😂 Thanks again for your support!

I had a bioidentical cream, created by Women’s International Pharmacy, so available by mail, that I rubbed on the inner thigh that helped me control hot flashes and night sweats that had plagued me for years. It was prescribed by a naturopath and worked great.
Michelle says
Thanks for the tip! I need to find a naturopath in my area 😊
Niki says
Thank you for hosting this lovely link party each week! I enjoy sharing with you & your readers! I have a severe neutrophil defect that will not allow my body to fight off any bacteria, viruses, or fungi, even those that are supposed to be good in the body overwhelm my system. The least little infection sends me to the hospital. They say I may not see my 10 year old graduate, but I serve a mighty God who will decide when I go! However the doctors tell me that long term disease & depression go hand in hand. So I sympathize with your plight & depression! There are times when I have difficulty posting on my site bc of either illness or the depression. That is really not good since I started my blog to try to make a living since I can’t work bc I could catch something or bc there would be times that I just can’t go in bc of being sick. You’re in my prayers! Praying for peace & for relief from your symptoms!!
Michelle says
Thank you so much for sharing this Niki 💜 Now I don’t feel so alone when it comes to having difficulty posting things due to my depression. It’s such a struggle to try to be creative putting something together decor-wise and then write up a cheery post about it when creative and cheery are the last things I’m feeling. I’m so sorry you have to deal with such huge health issues and I will be praying for you as well 💜
