Hey there friend! I hope you had a wonderful week!
A couple of weeks ago I said that I was no longer going to share my perimenopause issues on the blog. I had intended to keep that promise until I went to my doctors this week because what I found out changed everything.
I went to my doctor this week because I haven’t been able to function over the last couple of weeks due to crippling anxiety and panic attacks. I’ve dealt with depression and anxiety my whole life, but this anxiety is on a level that I’ve never experienced. I thought my symptoms were due to perimenopause, but when I explained to my doctor what was happening but I had also recently got the Covid vaccine, my doctor said that it is very likely the vaccine is greatly exasperating my perimenopause symptoms, and that my symptoms should go away once the part of the vaccine that is irritating my symptoms is out of my system. He also told me that several of his patients (mostly women but some men) that got the Covid vaccine were experiencing similar symptoms of extreme anxiety and even hot flashes, including his 19 year old daughter who has never had these symptoms before getting the vaccine.
I’m not sharing this to start a debate about the Covid vaccine or to scare anyone off from getting it. I’m sharing this so people are aware that if they get the vaccine and then have any unusual symptoms other than the typical Covid symptoms, their symptoms could possibly be from the vaccine and to go see their doctor so the doctor can rule the vaccine in or out and they can get the right treatment. Up until I talked to my doctor, I never thought that the Covid vaccine could be responsible for causing or exasperating these kinds of symptoms (although I did think it was interesting that my perimenopause symptoms started acting up in a big way after my first shot and then went into total overdrive after my second). If I didn’t mention to my doctor that I had just gotten the Covid vaccine, he would have treated me with hormone replacement therapy which I don’t actually need instead of giving me some anti-anxiety meds temporarily to help me ride out the side effects of the shot. Getting hormone replacement therapy when it’s not needed isn’t good because it can cause more problems than it helps, so I was grateful that I wasn’t put on it.
My doctor does not know how long I’m going to have these side effects, so it might be the Farmhouse Friday Show here on the blog for a little while until I’m feeling better. I appreciate all the kind words and prayers from everyone as well as your patience and understanding until I can get back on my feet.
Love to you all!!! ❤️❤️❤️

This Week’s Features:
I love the recent trend of decorating cakes using natural decorations and casual frosting techniques. Rachelle at My Hubbard Home shared 3 tips for creating gorgeous rustic cakes. I love that the cake decorations are both beautiful and edible!
Can you believe Fall is just around the corner? Julie at My Wee Abode is getting a jump start on fall DIY decor and shared her tutorial on how to make this adorable fall wood leaf garland. It‘s so easy to make and it can be used anywhere in your fall decor for some added pizzazz!
I love seeing the same furniture piece being made over several times to suit the space or use in a home – it takes repurposing to a whole new level! That’s exactly what CoCo at The Crowned Goat did with her gorgeous French country cabinet makeover. I love how she decorated it and is using it as a coffee bar!
I’ve always been a sucker for interesting architecture, so when I saw this French finesse bathroom ceiling makeover with white paint by Judith at Botanic Bleu I was totally blown away by her ceiling design as well as how much her makeover with white paint changed the whole look and feel of her bathroom!

Thank you so much for posting this Michelle! I’ve been experiencing high levels of anxiety that I’ve never had in all my 63 years. I attributed it to all the crappy news and isolation over the last 16 months. But after reading this and looking back, it started around the time I got my first shot. I wonder how long these symptoms last because it’s been 6 weeks since my second shot and I’m still struggling. Reading this brings some relief or at least answers! Thank you. xo

I’m so sorry to hear that Marie! I’m three weeks out from my second shot and things are starting to get a little better for me. I’ve been doing some things to try to detox from the shot – dry brushing to activate my lymphatic system and taking epsom salt baths to help release as well as taking activated charcoal tablets. I am talking to a holistic nurse who also recommended using probiotics, vitamins C and D3, calcium and Oregano oil so I am going to add that to my regimine too. If you’d like to chat more about it feel free to reach out to me on Facebook messenger or email. I hope you feel better soon!

Hi Michelle, I’m so glad you’ve been sharing your health situation along the way. It’s hard to be open on the blog sometimes, because we don’t want to put readers off, but I think it’s important to share our life and health. I remember a few weeks ago I asked you if maybe this was Covid related. I’m so sorry that you’re going thru this but so glad you found out what the problem is. I have autoimmune disease that manifests in a bunch of different ways with a lot of spinal neuropathy, joint pain, and generally feeling “off”. I’m not able to get the vaccine now because there’s a possibility my immune system would go crazy. So thanks for letting us know how you’re doing. Take care, hope you’re feeling much better soon. xo

Thanks so much Debra! I agree it’s important to share about our life and health even though we might lose readers over it. I can sleep at night knowing that I might have helped some people by sharing my life and health issues over losing readers that can’t handle that life gets real sometimes. I’m happy to hear that you’re not getting the vaccine as it doesn’t sound like it would be good for you in any way. You take care of yourself too and I hope you have a fantastic weekend!

Thanks for hosting, Michelle. And thank you so much for being so open and transparent. I think this will help many people who may be struggling the same way. Thank you so much for featuring my fall garland, too! Such a blessing!! I hope you feel better soon and have a restful weekend.

You’re very welcome for the feature Julie! And thank you for your kudos – I do hope sharing this will be help those in the same or similar situations. There’s not a lot of information online about the long term vaccine side effects and I was feeling pretty lost before I talked to my doctor. Have a wonderful weekend!

Michelle,
OMG!! who would have thought that the co vid vaccine would be causing these symptoms…The girl that cuts my hair had a reaction where her lymph nodes in her arm on the reaction side were very swollen afterward…She had bouts of chest pain, thinking she was having a heart attack for about 2 months afterward. Her Dr. told her it was due to the shot. I have also heard of a friend’s son having the same type of chest pain. I do know that you need to wait for some time afterward to get a mammogram because if your lymph nodes swelled after the shot, it could cause a false positive on a mammogram. Thanks for sharing you story so other people can be aware and even so, it is still better to get the vaccine than to end up in the hospital with covid…
Thanks again for hosting this lovely party every week! I know how much time and effort goes into doing so and I want you to know that it is greatly appreciated!! Stay safe, healthy and happy!!
Hugs,
Debbie

Thanks for sharing the symptoms that your hairdresser and your son’s friend had after the vaccine. I had the same problems with chest pain in the morning, but I had it along with severe anxiety so I’m not sure it was part of that. I recently found out that we have a large nerve that runs down the front of our chest and solar plexus called the vagus nerve which the vaccine can inflame causing check pain and/or anxiety. I found that putting an ice pack on my chest for at least 15 minutes soothes the inflammation and helps greatly with the pain and anxiety. It’s also important to note that the Covid vaccine can cause myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart muscle, and pericarditis, an inflammation of the heart lining, in younger people. If your hairdresser and son’s friend are younger, it would be a good idea for them to be checked out by their doctor just to be on the safe side. Thanks so much for joining us and have a safe, healthy and happy week! Hugs!

Thank you the vaccine info. I was really ill from my first dose and after the second I have pain in all my joints, which I never had before. My doctor had done some random blood work, not related, and asked if I had arthritus, which at the time I had no problems. He said the marker for arthritus in my blood was very high. We re-tested and he was shocked to find those markers had doubled! That was when I started to think about the timing of the vaccine and the timing of the joint pain. I am going to see a specialist, but I am thinking the pain is due to the vaccine and will eventually go away.
Michelle says
Pamela I’m so sorry to hear that you had problems with the vaccine. The vaccine can cause an inflammatory reaction in our bodies, so try some anti-inflammatory foods and supplements such as Turmeric, Ginger, Cinnamon, Garlic, Cayenne,
Black pepper, Clove and you can Google for more! I hope this helps!

Thank you so much for featuring my cabinet makeover, Michelle, I really appreciate it. It was so much fun to pick up a paintbrush again and to hear all the great suggestions/opinions of others. I’m always wishing there was a design question service for stuff like that 🙌 Big hugs and thank yous, CoCo
