Hey there friend! I hope you had a wonderful week!

A couple of weeks ago I said that I was no longer going to share my perimenopause issues on the blog. I had intended to keep that promise until I went to my doctors this week because what I found out changed everything.

I went to my doctor this week because I haven’t been able to function over the last couple of weeks due to crippling anxiety and panic attacks. I’ve dealt with depression and anxiety my whole life, but this anxiety is on a level that I’ve never experienced. I thought my symptoms were due to perimenopause, but when I explained to my doctor what was happening but I had also recently got the Covid vaccine, my doctor said that it is very likely the vaccine is greatly exasperating my perimenopause symptoms, and that my symptoms should go away once the part of the vaccine that is irritating my symptoms is out of my system. He also told me that several of his patients (mostly women but some men) that got the Covid vaccine were experiencing similar symptoms of extreme anxiety and even hot flashes, including his 19 year old daughter who has never had these symptoms before getting the vaccine.

I’m not sharing this to start a debate about the Covid vaccine or to scare anyone off from getting it. I’m sharing this so people are aware that if they get the vaccine and then have any unusual symptoms other than the typical Covid symptoms, their symptoms could possibly be from the vaccine and to go see their doctor so the doctor can rule the vaccine in or out and they can get the right treatment. Up until I talked to my doctor, I never thought that the Covid vaccine could be responsible for causing or exasperating these kinds of symptoms (although I did think it was interesting that my perimenopause symptoms started acting up in a big way after my first shot and then went into total overdrive after my second). If I didn’t mention to my doctor that I had just gotten the Covid vaccine, he would have treated me with hormone replacement therapy which I don’t actually need instead of giving me some anti-anxiety meds temporarily to help me ride out the side effects of the shot. Getting hormone replacement therapy when it’s not needed isn’t good because it can cause more problems than it helps, so I was grateful that I wasn’t put on it.

My doctor does not know how long I’m going to have these side effects, so it might be the Farmhouse Friday Show here on the blog for a little while until I’m feeling better. I appreciate all the kind words and prayers from everyone as well as your patience and understanding until I can get back on my feet.
